Our Mission
Pocket IEP was created to make the IEP process clearer, calmer, and more manageable for families. Special education can feel overwhelming, especially when parents are trying to understand complex documents, track services, and prepare for important meetings. Our mission is to give families a supportive workspace that brings everything together with clarity and compassion.
From Advocates to Allies
Pocket IEP was created by two passionate advocates who saw how often families felt lost, frustrated, or unsure of how to stay organized during the IEP process.
After years of working with families navigating special education, we knew there had to be a better way. Parents needed a tool that gave them clarity, confidence, and calm during what can be a stressful and complicated time.
That is why we built Pocket IEP, a platform designed to meet families where they are and grow with them.
Meet the Founders
Two passionate advocates dedicated to bringing clarity and support to families navigating the IEP process

Lauren Allen
Co-Founder & CEO
Lauren founded Pocket IEP after years of supporting families in the special education space. She saw how often parents felt overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure of what to ask for. Through her own experiences navigating services for her children, she recognized a deep need for a resource that brings clarity and emotional support to a complicated process.
Lauren leads with empathy, family centered thinking, and a belief that every parent deserves the tools to advocate with confidence. Pocket IEP reflects her commitment to helping families feel prepared, informed, and supported every step of the way.

Melanie Meek
Co-Founder & CPO
Melanie brings her background in product management, user experience, and organizational design to Pocket IEP. She believes that technology should make life easier for families, not more complicated. Her work focuses on creating simple, intuitive tools that help parents stay organized and ready for each part of the IEP process.
Melanie combines structure, clarity, and thoughtful design to create a platform that reduces stress and supports meaningful communication between families and their teams. She is passionate about building tools that meet families where they are and grow with their needs.
